Directing - Performing

  • Perform, play trumpet and flugel horn, in numerous styles of music; Jazz, Big Band, Blues, Dixiland, Rock, Alternative, Motown, R&B, Broadway, Classical…
  • Sight reading charts and second read performances.
  • Improvise stylistically correct in above styles.
  • Guiding bands through rehearsals, correcting and teaching as necessary. 
  • Bridging the social & vocabulary gap between musicians, sound engineers, and entertainers /acts.
  • Directing bands while simultaneously performing on trumpet.

Arranging - Music Prep - Copyist

  • Re-arranged entire shows for The Nelson Brothers, The Ledgends of Soul and The Coasters.
  • Custom Medleys.
  • Re-orchestrating books.
  • Copyist Work and Cleaning up Charts.
  • Re-writing music to shorten rehearsals.
  • Organizing and Producing Full Shows, from song styles, keys and tempos through to lighting and blocking.

Managment - Personnel - Budget

  • Manage more than twenty-five employees with eight unique groups on a daily basis.  
  • Deliver performance appraisals and disciplinary action.
  • Monitor time & attendance of employees and ensure that no compliance standards are broken.
  • Ensure company, safety, and environmental standards are being followed by employees.
  • Resolve interdepartmental disputes.
  • Manage two separate budgets to ensure that all shipboard musical gear is kept in tune (pianos), receive regular maintenance, and is replaced as necessary. 

Promotional - Demographic - Scheduling

  • Based on key demographics, alter weekly entertainment to better suit the majority.
  • Determine billings for bands as it appears in the daily paper.
  • Set start and stop times for bands as it applies to the flow of passengers from venue to venue.
  • Schedule apropriate call times and dress for musicians and bands.
